Edward Robert Grentz, known as Bud to his friends and family, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, March 30, 2025, in Pittsburgh, PA.
Born on March 1, 1944, in Pittsburgh, PA, he was the first-born son of Roseann Angle and Irvin N. Grentz. He grew up with his sister, Rosemary, and his younger brother, Jeffrey I Grentz and resided in Mt. Washington and South Side. Bud went to school at Pittsburgh Public Schools. He enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Germany. Upon discharge he returned to Pittsburgh and worked for the Ironworkers Local Union #3. He worked on a variety of structures in the Pittsburgh region, including the US Steel Building, the Civic Arena, and the New River Gorge Bridge.
It was during this time that he married Annabel Lou Sparks. They had two children, Robert E. and Daniel M. to which he was a devoted Dad.
After 20 years at the Ironworkers, he took a position at Allegheny Ludlum Millworks as a welder/rigger and worked there until retirement.
Bud was a member of St. Paul of the Cross Monastery on Pittsburgh’s South Side where he volunteered in their food pantry program.
He was preceded in death by his mother Roseann, his father Irvin, and his sister Rosemary. Bud will live on in the memories and stories of his children and their spouses/partners: son Robert and partner Sharon West, son Daniel and wife Wendy (Beard) and granddaughters Annabel and Stella.
Friends will be received on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at Cieslak & Tatko Funeral Home, 2935 Brownsville Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15227 from 2:00-4:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, April 9 at 10:30 am at Blessed Trinity Parish at St. Albert the Great Church. 3198 Schieck Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15227.

Interment will be held at St Wendelin Cemetery.
