Joanne Irene (Poremski) Hamel

Joanne Irene (Poremski) Hamel, age 87, of Pittsburgh, PA, passed away on February 16, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on January 9, 1938, in Pittsburgh to Harry and Helen Poremski, Joanne lived a life devoted to faith, family, and kindness.

A dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Joanne nurtured her family with unwavering love. She embraced her role as a homemaker with warmth and care, creating a home filled with love, laughter, and the comforting aroma of her renowned homemade pierogis. She found joy in surprising her family with their favorite meals, always cooking from the heart. Beyond her home, Joanne was deeply involved in her church, giving her time and energy to serve others through volunteer work.

She is survived by her five children: Diane Perrin, Dan (Dawn) Hamel, Ron (Trish) Hamel, Jim (Joann) Hamel, and Janice (Ron) Poljak; her 14 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Joanne was preceded in death by her cherished husband, Robert, her brother, Harry, and her parents, Harry and Helen.

A Memorial Service will be held 10:30 am. Saturday, April 5, 2025 at Blessed Trinity Parish at St Basil CC.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Joanne’s honor to Brentwood Library, a place that brought her joy and enriched her life.
